Montrose Beach
I don’t want to overplan the weekend but we should probably go to the beach at some point.
Before I moved to Chicago I was a real coastal snob that thought I’d miss a large body of water but it turns out the Great Lakes are great and the beaches are like real beaches. Also, directly next to Montrose Beach is Montrose DOG Beach so it’s a nice option if you prefer to sun and swim with about a hundred dogs.
Track Workout with River Park Athletics!
Sometime during Covid, several members of RPA (the ensemble class I’ve been taking forever at the Old Town School) started meeting at the River Park track on Sunday mornings for an interval workout wherein we just do what Coach Larry tells us. We’re still at it, every Sunday- a 3 mile interval run where it’s totally acceptable to just walk if that’s what you’re feeling that week but it is mandatory to join for coffee at Beans and Bagels (2601 W Leland) afterwards (we’re there by 9:30). RPA has one meaning that you need to join the class to find out, and many other meanings depending on the day. On Sunday morning, we’re River Park Athletics. All are welcome!
Pizza & Beer at Bell
Stroll on over to our house after the sing-along for pizza and beer. (It’s about a 3 minute walk). I’ll be sure to order some ridiculous casserole pizzas (otherwise known as Chicago deep dish) so Chicago newbies can see what the fuss is about.
Sing-along at Welles Park!
Whether it was gathering around the piano at 18 Holly, singing around a campfire or playing with my dear friends from the RPA Ensemble, I love a sing-along! Due to space constraints, I’m not able to invite everyone I’d like to the Friday party, so I wanted to schedule something where anyone who wants can come by.
Bring your instruments, bring your voice, brings your pals, kids, and pets to the gazebo area at Welles Park. I’ll have song packets of high quality hits and jams but feel free to bring along any you’d like.

Party at the Dank Haus in the Skyline Lounge and Terrace! Food, drink, music and hopefully as clear a view of the Chicago skyline as in the picture!
I’m thrilled that Steve Dawson and his awesome band Walking on Sunshine will be performing live. If you live in Chicago, you know and love Steve and know that he should be a household name. If you don’t live in Chicago, you’ve likely heard me rave about his talent. Walking on Sunshine is a supergroup of Chicago talent- Joining Steve will be Alton Smith, John Abbey and Larry Brown.
I’ll be spinning (or whatever you call it when you press play on your computer and walk away) my own playlist for part of the evening so if you have any requests, let me know!
Please come with an appetite for food and booze (veg, vegan and gluten free options provided). The Italian in me probably got way too much of both.
Dress Code: None! As casual or fancy as you wish!
